Karneid

Karneid (Italian Cornedo all'Isarco ) is a municipality in South Tyrol Eisacktal near Bolzano ( Italy) with 3342 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is named after the village Karneid with the castle of the same (see Castle Karneid ), one of the finest in the country. Seat of the municipality is but Kardaun.

The municipal area is largely from the three rivers Eisack, Eggentaler Bach and Braibach ( Tiersertal ) limits between which the " Karneider mountain", an offshoot of the Western Dolomites is located.

Fractions

The community Karneid is formed by the political groups Steinegg, Gummer, Cardano, Blumau and Karneid; the hamlet of St. Veit is not considered to own faction. The seat of the Town Hall, the Social and Health Care Ward and social center with sheltered workshop located in Cardano, in the Bolzano basin. Steinegg and Gummer are the largest groups. Its location in the heart of the Rosengarten Latemar area and at the gateway to the Dolomites as convincing as her appearance as the first star village in Europe: Planetarium, Observatory, Solar Observatory and Planetary immerse you in the universe!

Leisure

From the planned bike path Bolzano - Waidbruck which will also lead by the Karneider fractions Kardaun and Blumau, the section between Cardano and Bolzano is now passable. The section Kardaun - Blumau, which runs along the former railway line, has also been completed.
