L'Hôpital, Moselle
L' Hôpital ( German almshouse ) is a commune with 5427 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.
Geography
The municipality is situated on the French-German border, about 20 km west of Saarbrücken, in the midst of cross-border forest area of Warndt. The nearest major cities are Saint- Avold and Forbach in Lorraine and Völklingen and Saarlouis in Saarland.

History
L' Hôpital situated on the old Roman road Metz -Mainz -Worms. 1856 were (now Bois -Richard ) discovered Roman remains in Aspen Karpacz district. 1980 Roman coins and pottery shards were found in the brick Stücker district. The village of L' Hôpital was born in 1200 at the source of the stream Merle, which opens into the Rossel after a few kilometers in Merle Bach. The place name is to go back to a hospital of the monastery of Villers- Bettnach, which were built in the Warndt the Counts of Saarbrücken. In the Thirty Years' War, the town was virtually wiped out. The Frenchified name of the place was first used in 1595. 1940 L' Hôpital the Gau Westmark, district Saint Avold, Lorraine CdZ area was annexed. L' Hôpital was heavily damaged in World War II and liberated on 6 December 1944.
