Lapleau

Lapleau (La PLeu in Occitan ) is a commune with 386 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Corrèze, in the Limousin region. The church is the seat of the municipal association Ventadour and capital of the canton of Lapleau.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Massif Central, the river Luzège, about three kilometers south of the dam Barrage de la Luzège and is surrounded by extensive forests. Tulle, prefecture of the department is situated approximately 40 kilometers west and Égletons about 15 kilometers north-west and Ussel about 35 kilometers north-east.

Neighboring communities of Lapleau are Lamazière Basse in the north, Saint- Pantaleon -de- Lapleau in the northeast, Soursac in the East, Laval -sur- Luzège in the south and Saint- Hilaire- Foissac in the West.
