McGregor is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Lee County in the U.S. state of Florida with 7,406 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

McGregor is located on the Caloosahatchee River, bordered to the north directly to Fort Myers. The CDP is crossed by the Florida State Road 867. Tampa is located about 200 miles and Miami 220 km away.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 7,406 inhabitants distributed to 4,717 households. The population density was 1,122.1 inh. / Km ². 94.7 % of the population were white, 1.4% African American, 0.1% Native American and 1.6% Asian Americans. 1.0% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.0% of different ethnicities. 5.7% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 42.2 % of all households lived in 18.5 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 62.7 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.09 persons and the average family size is 2.56 people.

16.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 17.7% were 20-39 years old, 28.0% were 40-59 years old and 38.3% were at least 60 years old. The median age was 53 years. 47.7 % of the population were male and 52.3 % female.

The average annual income was $ 72,402, while 4.5 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 95.09 % of the population spoke Spanish 3.25% and 1.66 % spoke German.
