San Carlos Park is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Lee County in the U.S. state of Florida with 16,824 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

San Carlos Park is affected by the Tamiami Trail ( U.S. 41 ) and is located about 10 km south of Fort Myers. Tampa and Miami are both approximately 210 km away.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 16,824 inhabitants distributed to 7,177 households. The population density was 1335.2 inh. / Km ². 86.4 % of the population were white, 2.9% African American, 0.4% Native American and 1.4% Asian Americans. 7.1% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.8% in different ethnic groups. 24.0 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 17.9 % of all households lived in 37.6 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 69.1 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.75 persons and the average family size is 3.15 people.

27.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 29.3% were 20-39 years old, 29.8 % were 40-59 years old and 13.1 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 35 years. 51.7 % of the population were male and 48.3 % female.

The average annual income was $ 50,759, while 11.6 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 90.35 % of the population spoke Spanish 8.15% and 1.50 % had a different mother tongue.
