Lee County (Florida)

The Lee County is a county in the southwest of the U.S. state of Florida in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Fort Myers.

Geography

The county has an area of ​​3,139 square kilometers, of which 1,057 square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Hendry County, Collier County and Charlotte County.

History

The Lee County was formed on 13 May 1887, by Robert E. Lee, a general in the American Civil War, named. In August 2004, Fort Myers and the offshore islands in the northwest of Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel and Captiva Iceland Iceland have been drawn from the " Hurricane Charley " heavily affected.
