Manatee County, Florida
The Manatee County is a county located in the state of Florida in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Bradenton.
Geography
The county has an area of 2,312 square kilometers, of which 393 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Pinellas County, Hillsborough County, Hardee County, DeSoto County and Sarasota County.
History
The Manatee County was formed on January 9, 1855 from parts of Jefferson County. The name comes from the manatees occurring there, the manatees, which are also found in the coat of arms of the County.

According to the census in 2010 lived in Manatee County 322 833 people in 172 901 households. The population density was 168.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 81.9 % White, 8.7% Black or African American, 0.3% Indigenous and 1.6% Asian Americans. 5.4% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.0% in different ethnic groups. 14.9 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.
In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 38.6 % of all households lived in 25.7 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 64.9 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.34 persons and the average family size is 2.85 people.
22.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 20.6% were 20-39 years old, 26.3% were 40-59 years old and 36.5 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 46 years. 48.4 % of the population were male and 51.6 % female.
The median income for a household was $ 47,910, while 14.5 % of the population lived below the poverty line.
In 2010, English was the mother tongue of 83.94 % of the population spoke Spanish 11.03% and 5.03% had a different mother tongue.
