The Manatee County is a county located in the state of Florida in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Bradenton.

Geography

The county has an area of ​​2,312 square kilometers, of which 393 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Pinellas County, Hillsborough County, Hardee County, DeSoto County and Sarasota County.

History

The Manatee County was formed on January 9, 1855 from parts of Jefferson County. The name comes from the manatees occurring there, the manatees, which are also found in the coat of arms of the County.
