Osceola County (Florida)
The Osceola County is a county located in the state of Florida in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Kissimmee.
Geography
The county has an area of 3901 square kilometers, of which 478 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Brevard County, Indian River County, Okeechobee County, Polk County and Orange County.
History
The Osceola County was formed on 12 May 1887 parts of Brevard County. It was named after the Indian chief Osceola. His name means as much as singer of the black beverage.

According to the census in 2010 lived in Osceola County 268 685 people in 127 764 households. The population density was 78.5 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 71.0 % White, 11.3 % African American, 0.5% Indigenous and 2.8 % Asian Americans. 10.4% were members of other ethnic groups and 4.1% in different ethnic groups. 45.5 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.
In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 23.6 % of all households lived in 41.6 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 75.7 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.93 and the average family size is 3.30 people.
29.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.0% were 20-39 years old, 27.7 % were 40-59 years old and 16.1 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 36 years. 49.0 % of the population were male and 51.0 % female.
The median income for a household was $ 44,887, while 16.0 % of the population lived below the poverty line.
In 2010, English was the mother tongue of 55.48 % of the population spoke Spanish 38.58 % and 5.94% had a different mother tongue.
