The Walton County is a county located in the state of Florida in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is DeFuniak Springs.

History

The Walton County was formed on December 29, 1824 from parts of Escambia County. It was named for George Walton, a secretary of the Florida Territory in 1821 bis in 1826.

Geography

The county has an area of ​​3,206 square kilometers, of which 467 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered to the west by the Okaloosa County and on the east by the following counties: Holmes County, Washington County and Bay County.
