Liberty County (Florida)

The Liberty County is a county located in the U.S. state of Florida in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Bristol. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The county has an area of ​​2,184 square kilometers, of which 19 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Gadsden County, Leon County, Wakulla County, Franklin County, Gulf County and Calhoun County. It lies between the Ochlockonee River and the Apalachicola River in the west. The County is located in the Panhandle of Florida and is one of the least populated areas of Florida.

History

The Liberty County was formed on 15 December 1855. It was named after what people appreciate most - freedom.
