Washington County (Florida)

The Washington County is a county located in the state of Florida in the United States. Administrative office ( County Seat) is Chipley. In the 2000 census, the county had 20,973 inhabitants and a population density of 14 inhabitants per square kilometer. History

The Washington County was formed on December 9, 1825 from parts of Jackson County. It was named after George Washington, the first President of the United States, whose term lasted from 1789 to 1797.

Geography

The County is located in northwest Florida and has an area of ​​1,595 square kilometers, of which 93 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Jackson County, Bay County, Walton County and Holmes County.
