The Bradford County is a county located in the state of Florida in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is strong.
Geography
The county has an area of 777 square kilometers, of which 18 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Duval County, Clay County, Alachua County, Union County and Baker County.
History
The County was formed on December 21, 1858 " New River County " from parts of Columbia County and renamed on December 6, 1861 in Bradford County. It was named after the Confederate Captain Richard Bradford, who had fought in the American Civil War, and fell at the battle of " Santa Rosa Iceland ".

According to the census in 2010 lived in Bradford County 28 520 people in 11,011 households. The population density was 37.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 76.4 % White, 20.4 % African American, 0.3% Indigenous and 0.5 % Asian Americans. 0.7 % were members of other ethnic groups and 1.6% in different ethnic groups. 3.6% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.
In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 30.4 % of all households lived in 31.8 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 69.4 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.53 and the average family size is 2.99 people.
21.8 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 28.6 % were 20-39 years old, 29.3% were 40-59 years old and 20.1 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 40 years. 56.1 % of the population were male and 43.9 % female.
The median income for a household was $ 39,082, while 20.1 % of the population lived below the poverty line.
In 2010, English was the mother tongue of 96.95 % of the population spoke Spanish 2.11% and 0.94 % had a different mother tongue.
