History

The County was formed on December 21, 1858 " New River County " from parts of Columbia County and renamed on December 6, 1861 in Bradford County. It was named after the Confederate Captain Richard Bradford, who had fought in the American Civil War, and fell at the battle of " Santa Rosa Iceland ".
