St. James City is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Lee County in the U.S. state of Florida with 3,784 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

St. James City is located in the south of the island Pine Iceland. The island is connected by a bridge to Cape Coral. The CDP is located approximately 27 km west of Fort Myers, and about 210 miles from Tampa and 260 miles from Miami.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 3,784 inhabitants distributed to 3,262 households. The population density was 100.1 inh. / Km ². 98.1 % of the population were white, 0.3% African American, 0.2% Native American and 0.3 % Asian Americans. 0.5 % were members of other ethnic groups and 0.7 % of various ethnicities. 2.1% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 59.4 % of all households lived in 6.6 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 61.6 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 1.85 persons and the average family size is 2.25 people.

6.5% of the population were younger than 20 years, 6.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.6 % were 40-59 years old and 70.2 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 64 years. 49.8 % of the population were male and 50.2 % female.

The average annual income was $ 46,994, while 8.7 % of the population lived below the poverty line.
