Suncoast Estates is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Lee County in the U.S. state of Florida with 4,384 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Suncoast Estates is located about 6 km north of Fort Myers. Tampa is located about 190 miles and Miami 240 km away.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 4,384 inhabitants distributed to 1,962 households. The population density was 626.3 inh. / Km ². 92.3 % of the population were white, 0.9% African American, 0.5% Native American and 0.5 % Asian Americans. 3.3% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.6% in different ethnic groups. 10.1% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 24.7 % of all households lived in 33.7 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 62.2 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.68 persons and the average family size is 3.17 people.

27.7 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 24.0% were 20-39 years old, 31.3 % were 40-59 years old and 17.0 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 39 years. 51.4 % of the population were male and 48.6 % female.

The average annual income was $ 26,041, while 35.8 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 96.22 % of the population spoke Spanish 2.75% and 1.03 % spoke German.
