North Fort Myers is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Lee County in the U.S. state of Florida with 39 407 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

North Fort Myers is located on the north bank of the Caloosahatchee River and is adjacent to Cape Coral as well as on the other side of the river to Fort Myers. The CDP is 31 and 78 crosses or touches of Interstate 75, the Tamiami Trail ( U.S. 41 ) and by the Florida State Roads. Tampa is located about 180 miles and Miami 230 km away.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 39 407 inhabitants distributed to 27,108 households. The population density was 289.1 inh. / Km ². 94.7 % of the population were white, 1.5% African American, 0.4% Native American and 0.6 % Asian Americans. 1.7% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.1% in different ethnic groups. 6.2% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 59.0 % of all households lived in 12.2% of all households with persons at least 65 years. 59.2 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 1.98 persons and the average family size is 2.45 people.

12.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 10.9% were 20-39 years old, 23.7% were 40-59 years old and 53.3 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 62 years. 48.3 % of the population were male and 51.7 % female.

The average annual income was $ 39,754, while 10.7 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 95.43 % of the population spoke Spanish 2.56% and 2.01 % had a different mother tongue.
