Geography
Geographical Location
The municipality is situated just on the border to Baden- Württemberg. The district Mönchsroth is drained by the rotách, a tributary of the Wörnitz. Neighboring municipalities are (from north clockwise beginning ): Dinkelsbühl, Wilburgstetten, Stödtlen and Words to live by.

Policy
Mayor
Mayor since February 1, 2012 Edith Stump ( Free citizens list). She was elected as the successor of Fritz Franke (SPD ) on November 13, 2011.
Parish council
After the local elections on March 2, 2008, the council has twelve members who are all free to the fraction group of voters. The turnout was 56.2 %. Another member and chairman of the municipal council is the mayor.
Coat of arms
The coat of arms description reads: Through lowered golden beam divided by blue and red, above a silver eagle holding a transverse golden Abtstab in the clutches, below a silver cross of St. Andrew.
