Morris Kirksey

Morris Marshall Kirksey (born 13 September 1895 in Waxahachie, Texas, † November 25, 1981 in Stanford, California ) was an American track and field athlete and Olympic champion.

Kirksey was a student at Stanford University and studied philosophy when he won the 100 yards 1921 U.S. Championships and prepared by Charles Paddock record was established. He was one of four American athletes who won a gold medal in two different Olympic sports.

The VII Summer Olympics in Antwerp in 1920 he won the silver medal in the 100 - meter dash, behind the American Charles Paddock and before the British Harry Edward. Six days later he won the gold medal in the 4 x 100 - meter relay along with his teammates Charles Paddock, Jackson Scholz and Loren Murchison, before the teams of France and Sweden. Towards the end of the Olympic Games, he won his second gold medal - as a member of the American rugby union team, which won against France in the final 8-0.
