The National Stadium Kazimierz Górski in Warsaw ( Polish " stadium in Narodowy. Kazimierza Górskiego w Warszawie " ) is a football stadium in the Polish capital Warsaw. It was built for the Euro 2012 football championship. The system replaces the stadium Dziesieciolecia ( German stadium of 10 - th anniversary ), which arose from the ruins of rubble from 1954 to 1955. The sports facility is conveniently located in the Praga district, on the bank of the Vistula opposite Warsaw's center, with good tram and S -Bahn connections. The stadium has a closable tent roof construction, as found also in the Frankfurt Commerzbank - Arena and the Arena Naţională in Bucharest.

On June 28, 2012, the name was expanded to honor the Polish football player and coach Kazimierz Górski.

The stadium has a capacity of 57 747 seats. Construction began in 2009, the official opening took place on 29 January 2012. Apart from the stadium, a sports hall will be built at the stadium with 20,000 seats and a swimming stadium with 4,500 seats. General designer of the stadium the new building is a German-Polish consortium of architectural firms JSK Architects, Warsaw, Gerkan, Marg and Partners, as well as the engineering firm Schlaich Berger and Partner.

Construction work

The old stadium was partially demolished to complete the pile foundations. At the tender for construction works six candidates participated. The Treaty on the Creation of construction works was signed on 4 May 2009 with the company Alpine PBG SA and Hydrobudowa Polska SA at a price of 1.25 billion zloty. On 7 October 2009 the foundation stone was laid solemnly. Then began the concreting of the first three floors. On the construction site in 1000 construction workers were employed. When casting slabs empty containers made ​​of plastic are inserted between the reinforcement bars, which contributes to reduction of the weight of the construction. Ten of the 19 staircases were concreted in slipforms, which sped up the process considerably. The first 35 m high staircase was completed in only 14 days, so with a speed of 2 to 3 m per day. End of April 2010, the reinforced concrete structure of the stadium to about 80 % finished. On August 24, 2010, all concrete construction was finally finished.

It started the installation of the support construction of the facades of 32 m long tubular supports, which were delivered from Italy. In October 2010, the installation of the steel structure of the external walls and the Stahlbetonkonstrukton the stands was completed. There remained only the construction of the hanging roof and the finishing work left. The solid roof membrane allows a clear view and weather protection for spectators, allows good lighting for the stadium turf, but also to the demands of television broadcasting in HDTV. The roof is held by radial cable system and comprises 55,000 m² of PTFE - coated glass fabric. The movable inner roof is made of a flexible, translucent PVC coated polyester fabric. This 11,000 m² indoor roof needs frequent folds, procedures and able to withstand a snow load of games in the winter. The " storage wheel " structure of the roof consists of 72 radial cable trusses with a weight of 12,000 tons of steel. The solid membrane roof has so 72 main and 72 secondary fields and the 20,000 m² PTFE coated fiberglass fabric with stretch panels of the facade is executed in red / white in the Polish national colors.

End of May 2011 were known design flaw of the stairs. Thus, the completion was delayed until January 2012. Prior to the opening, a test match between Poland and Germany was agreed on September 6, 2011. However, this date could not be maintained and the game was moved to Danzig in the PGE Arena Gdańsk.

On 29 January 2012, the stadium was opened.

2012 European Football Championship

During the European Championships were held in the stadium a total of five games. These include the opening match and one quarter - and semi-finals were one.

American Football

On July 15, 2012, the NAC was SuperFinał VII (also Polish Bowl), the final of the Polish American Football League PLFA held at the stadium. 23,000 spectators at the Gdynia Seahawks defeated the Warsaw Eagles with 52:37 ( 12:7, 20:17, 13:6, 7:7 ) points. Viewership meant attendance record for an American football game in Poland.

World Climate Conference

In November 2013, the UNFCCC Climate Change Conference COP 19/CMP 9 took place in the stadium after the court had been converted into a convention center.

UEFA Europa League

On May 23, 2013 were announced that the final of the UEFA Europa League 2014/15 take place in spring 2015 in Warsaw.
