Nellingen, with the hamlets Oppingen and Aichen, is a municipality in the Alb -Donau-Kreis, about 20 km north- west of Ulm.

Geography
Geographical Location
Nellingen is located on the middle Kuppenalb, a part of the Swabian Alb.
Nature and Landscape
The junipers at Aichen are specially protected. A 49.9 -hectare area was declared on 20 February 1991 concerning the nature reserve monk climbing from the Government of Tübingen. The heath landscape should be preserved in their typical appearance containing the bound -input agriculture as a sheep pasture and maintained. Of particular ecological value is the habitat of dry meadows with its many protected animal and plant species as well as the loosened, structured edge of a wood with the many, adapted to this structure of birds.

Community structure
To Nellingen heard the hamlet Aichen, which is already mentioned in 1143 as Aich home. Aichen is known by the motorway service station on the motorway 8, 1975, the community was incorporated Oppingen to Nellingen.
History
Nellingen was first documented in the 12th century. Emperor Charles IV granted market rights in 1372, and the right to floor and gallows. In the decades before and around 1400 Nellingen gradually came into possession of the imperial city of Ulm and was still with this at the beginning of the 19th century a number of years to Bavaria.

The vast majority of the population is Protestant.

Structures
The late Gothic Evangelical Andrew's Church has a still well-preserved wooden ceiling from the 1492 and murals. Also noteworthy are the high baroque carved door.
Regular events
The traditional Nellinger Jacob's market takes place every year on July 25, or if it falls on a Sunday the Saturday before, instead. Another highlight is already the traditional peasant race for the Grand Prix of Aichen, which every two years, always takes place in late August to the even-numbered years.

Nellingen between Geislingen and spawning rings directly on the Autobahn 8 Stuttgart -Munich (junction Merklingen ).
The community belongs to the Danube -Iller - Nahverkehrsverbund. The bus line 49 connects the village to Ulm, the line 360 to the Geislingen station ( platforms ) on the Filstalbahn Stuttgart -Ulm. A little closer, that is, eight kilometers northeast of Nellingen, the Amstetten station ( Wuertt ) is located on the Filstalbahn. From there, the Württemberg railway company operating until 1985 the branch line Amstetten - Laichingen. The trains also stopped at the stations in Oppingen and Nellingen. The most beautiful part of the meter gauge railway from Amstetten to Oppingen is Museumsbahn today.
In the triangle between Nellingen, Amstetten and Oppingen is also home to the gliding site Oppingen - Au, which can be served by motor gliders, single-engine airplanes to 2 tonnes MTOW and ultralight aircraft.
Education
In Nellingen there is a primary and secondary school neighborhood with Werkrealschule. Principal of the high school from 1985 to 2011, the textbook publisher and textbook authors Norbert Simianer (from ... to - history textbook for secondary schools ). Secondary schools (Realschule, Gymnasium) are in Laichingen and Geislingen.
