Ober-Flörsheim

Upper Florsheim is a municipality in the district Alzey- Worms in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Alzey -Land.

Geographical location

Upper Florsheim lies on a high plateau in the Rhine-Hessian wine growing area.

History

Flarlesheim superiori was first mentioned in 776 in a donation directory of Lorsch. From 1237 until the late 18th century, the German Order of operating a Coming in the village. Since 1506 belonged to upper - Florsheim to Electoral Palatinate and was subordinate to the chief official Alzey. Culture and sights

Heritage Museum in Mansion ( former mansion in the Kommenturei ), manager Hans -Jürgen Rudy, opening times by appointment. In 2002, the local history and culture club top Florsheim was founded, in the meantime, around 80 members counts.

Music

In addition to the glee club Sängerkranz of 1855, which also has a women's choir, there is also the Catholic Church Music Association of 1912 and an evangelical church choir.

Structures

Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul, built 1776/1777 instead of the old parish church, which was awarded the Reformed Church after the Palatine division in 1705. The German Order, which held the patronage of the Catholic community, however, opposed this decision and preserved in a long legal dispute the ownership of the Catholics. As a result of the dispute, however, fell apart the old church, so that the held in Renaissance style building was necessary. The bell tower was not built until 1930.

The Protestant church was 1887/88 built in the Gothic Revival style, it was renovated in 1961-65 and 1976-78, followed by a sandstone blocks indicating on the west side of the tower.

Particularly worth seeing is a late baroque courtyard in the Alzeyer road, separated from the town hall by the Weedegasse, with a typical hipped mansard roof. This emerged at the end of the 18th century.

  • Willy German man, * 1880 upper Florsheim, painter, worked in Petersbächel in Wasgau, where he died in 1960. He is regarded as the most important painter of the central Wasgau, the boundary line between the Palatinate and Alsace.
