Oberpierscheid

Geography
The village lies on a plateau of southern Islek in the South Eifel. To Oberpierscheid include the districts Philip Weiler, Walzenack, Röllersdorf and Luppertseifen.
With a 37% lower compared to the surrounding portion of the municipal area is used for agriculture, 58 % are forest existed (as of 2011 ).

Adjacent communities are Niederpierscheid and Mauel in the north, Heilbach in the east, the south and Berkoth Krautscheid in the West.
Climate
The annual rainfall is 1148 mm. Rainfall is very high. They are in the top tenth of the values recorded in Germany. At 91% of the stations of the German Weather Service lower values are registered. The driest month is July, the most rainfall comes in December. In December, falling 2.6 times more precipitation than in July. The seasonal variations are large. At only 6% of the stations higher seasonal variations are recorded.
History
The area of Oberpierscheid was probably inhabited in Roman times, which suggest grave finds from this period. The place in its present form is believed to have originated in the late medieval deforestation phases, after which the place names mission " distinguishable " indicates. The first documentary mention as " Pereschet " dates from the 1408.
By the end of the 18th century belonged to the rule Eifelort New Castle in the Duchy of Luxembourg. In the French rule, he went to the Canton Arzfeld in the Département Forêts. In the Prussian time Oberpierscheid the mayoralty Waxweiler was initially the mayor Ringhuscheid, then passed on. The present-day districts Oberpierscheids emerged as all start-ups in the 19th century. There, mainly inhabited by the workers from the ironworks Merkeshausen.
On 12 June 1994 the until then independent municipality Merkeshausen was incorporated with 23 inhabitants.

Parish council
The local council in Oberpierscheid consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The eight seats on the council are divided into two groups of voters.

Economy and infrastructure
Oberpierscheid is an agricultural municipality today. Since 1979, when only 37 farms were counted, the agricultural area of 446 ha to 431 ha ( 2010) has decreased, which were managed by seven companies.
