Olsdorf
Olsdorf is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bitburg -Land.
Geography
Olsdorf is located in the southwest Eifel about 10 km west of the county town of Bitburg. The municipal area extends on the plateau between Prüm and the Our. An unusually high proportion of 3.14 km ² large district of Olsdorf is used for agriculture ( 85%), only 7% have been passed by forest. Just north of the village runs the main road 50 leading to the Luxembourg border and to Bitburg.
Climate
The annual rainfall is 841 mm. The deposits are located in the upper third of the detected values in Germany. At 71% of the stations of the German Weather Service lower values are registered. The driest month is April, the most rainfall comes in December. In December, falling 1.4 times more precipitation than in April. Precipitation varies only slightly and are distributed extremely evenly throughout the year. At only 2% of the monitoring stations, lower seasonal swings are recorded.
History
In the area of " Oberolsdorf " remains a sedentary settlements were found by the Romans. The first written mention of the village dates back to the year 1200 when the town still appeared as " Alesdorf juxta Bettingen ". Then called " Ailstorf " - - In the later Middle Ages, the village was the rule Bettingen belong, 1473, three fireplaces listed. Attractions
The Catholic Chapel of St. Rochus was built in 1928. Together with the belonging to the chapel Hoorhof it forms the historic entrance. Worth seeing are three distributed in the municipality heritage values roadside crosses.
