Orsan

Orsan is a commune with 1102 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Gard of the Languedoc -Roussillon region.

Geography

Orsan is located five kilometers south-east of Bagnols -sur -Cèze.

The neighboring communities of Orsan are Chusclan in the northeast, Codolet the southeast, Laudun- l'Ardoise in the south and Bagnols -sur -Cèze in the West.

History

Several objects from the Roman period have been discovered, including a grave stone. 1384 belonged to the diocese of Uzès Orsan. The community had about thirty inhabitants at that time. The village was also affected by the Tuchineraufstand. 1383 devastated the rebellious peasants, which were directed against the Bishops of Uzès, the place Laudun.
