Geographical Location

Salching lies in the Donau -Wald at the Aiterach 5 km south of Straubing in the middle of Gäuboden.

History

The place is first mentioned around 883/887. Manorial estates in the municipality had in the Middle Ages the noble family of Rainer Rain, Kloster Sankt Emmeram in Regensburg and monastery Oberalteich. Salching belonged to the revenue office and district court of the Electorate of Bavaria Straubing. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Incorporations

As part of the municipal reform of the eponymous part of the formerly independent municipality Oberpiebing was incorporated on May 1, 1978.
