History
Wind Mountain was originally the seat of the Counts of Bogen. The local monastery Wind Mountain was founded by Count Albert I of arc, composed of Bishop Otto I of Bamberg beginning of the 12th century. The town itself belonged since the Middle Ages for Rent Office Straubing and the district court Mitterfels of the Electorate of Bavaria. The monastery mountain wind had a closed Hofmark and was dissolved in 1803 in the wake of secularization. The church was the parish church, the Prelature parsonage. The Konventsbau was privately owned and hosted in 1835 a brewery. Created in 1818 the current municipality. 1923, the monastery was re-established by Premonstratensian abbey from the Dutch Berne - Heeswijk.

On the territory of the municipality were 1970 810, 1987, 884 and 2000 counted 992 inhabitants in the year.

Mayor
Mayor since May 1, 2008 Johann Gstettenbauer ( CSU / New Wählergemeinschaft ). Its predecessor was Josef Wurm ( New Wählergemeinschaft ).

The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of € 290 thousand in 1999, which amounted to the trade tax revenues ( net) converted 9 T €.
Economy and infrastructure
Economy, agriculture and forestry
It was in 1998 according to official statistics in the manufacturing sector and 47 in the area of trade and transport any social insurance contributions at the workplace. Social insurance contributions at residence, there were a total of 311 in the manufacturing sector there were 3 businesses in construction operations 6. Attractions
The monastery complex of the monastery mountain wind is still present in large parts, the majority of the buildings around the church today is in private ownership. This village has been restored in the Village Renewal 1995-2005 and renovated. Also worth mentioning is the Sanctuary of the Holy Cross on Cross Mountain.
