Geographical location

The city Schillingsfuerst lies in the nature park of Franconia. Neighboring municipalities are (from north clockwise beginning ): Gebsattel book on the forest, Leutershausen, Dombühl, Wörnitz and Diebach.

History

In 1000 the name Schillingsfuerst was first mentioned. The name " Xillingesfirst " appeared in the Burgbernheimer Wildbann certificate. Already in 1300 Schillingsfuerst was owned by the House of Hohenlohe. In 1316 the castle was destroyed by Ludwig the Bavarian. The rebuilt castle was burnt down during the Peasants' Revolt in 1525. Economy and infrastructure

Schillingsfuerst is a member of Tourism Romantic Franconia.

Traffic

Schillingsfuerst located on the Romantic Road and also close to the national highway 7 (Exit 109 - Wörnitz ). In 1905 Schillingsfuerst received rail connection along the railway line Steinach bei Rothenburg Dombühl. The passenger was set in 1971 on this route.
