Silvio Fauner

Silvio Fauner ( born November 1, 1968 in San Pietro di Cadore, Province of Belluno ) is an Italian former cross-country skier.

He was in the 1990s, the most successful coin collectors in cross-country skiing. Highlight of his career was the Olympic gold medal with the Italian relay at the 1994 Olympic Games in Lillehammer, when he was able to defeat on the home straight Bjørn Dæhlie in the final sprint. At the World Championships in 1995, he could win the world title over 50 kilometers.

Fauner was a member of the sports promotion group of Carabinieri. Since May 2007 he is technical delegate of the Italian cross-country team.
