Tompkins County is a county located in the state of New York in the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had according to the official estimate of 96 501 inhabitants and a population density of 82 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Ithaca. Ithaca is home to Cornell University.
