Vincent Riendeau

Vincent Riendeau ( born April 20, 1966 in Saint- Hyacinthe, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender and coach, and in his active years from 1983 to 2001 among others for the Canadiens de Montréal, St. Louis Blues, Detroit Red Wings Boston Bruins played in the National Hockey League. Since 2010 he is a goalkeeper coach for the Hamburg Freezers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Career

Vincent Riendeau began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL, where he was active in the Junior de Verdun and Voltigeurs de Drummondville between 1983 and 1986. He was then obliged by the Canadiens de Montréal from the National Hockey League, for which was the goalkeeper in the 1987/88 season in a game between the posts. The rest of the period from 1986 to 1988 he spent in Montreal's farm team, the Canadiens de Sherbrooke, in the American Hockey League. From 1988 to 1991 he played for the St. Louis Blues in the NHL. In October 1991 he signed a contract with their league rivals Detroit Red Wings, for whom he played in the following three seasons as well as for their AHL farm team, the Adirondack Red Wings. From spring 1994 to summer 1995, he was finally for the Boston Bruins in the NHL, as well as in a playoff game for their AHL farm team Providence Bruins on the ice.

For the 1995/96 season Riendeau first went to Europe, where he was bound by the SC Riessersee of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. After he closed the 1996/97 season with the Manitoba Moose of the International Hockey League, he returned to the following season back in the DEL, where he worked for the Revierlöwen Oberhausen had a Gegentorschnitt 3.04 in 14 games. Later in the season he moved to HC Lugano of the Swiss National League A, but came only once used. This was followed by one year each at the Ayr Scottish Eagles from the Ice Hockey Superleague, the HK Lada Togliatti of the Russian Super League and the Anchorage Aces of the West Coast Hockey League, before the Canadians in 2001 at the age of 35 years, ended his active career.

In the season 2004/ 05 the former NHL goalie worked as a goalkeeper coach for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the QMJHL. Previously, he was responsible for goalie questions already in an advisory capacity at the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL. He also served in the same capacity for the Adler Mannheim (2005-2007), Fribourg- Gottéron and the Kassel Huskies (2008-2009) active. For the season 2010/11 he was taken by the Hamburg Freezers as goalkeeping coach under contract.
