Vladimir Melanin

Vladimir Mikhailovich melanin (Russian: Владимир Михайлович Меланьин; * December 1, 1933; † August 10, 1994 ) was a Russian biathlete.

1964 was the launching of the Soviet Union melanin at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck Olympic champion over the 20 km biathlon, the then single individual competition in this discipline. He won ahead of his compatriot Alexander Priwalow and the Norwegian Olav Jordet. In addition, melanin each won the gold medal over 20 km and in 1959, 1962 and 1963 with the relay at the Biathlon World Championships in 1959, 1962 and 1963. In 1965, he won again Season silver. To date, melanin is one of the ten most successful male biathlon athletes at world championships.
