Völs am Schlern

Fiè (Italian Fiè allo Sciliar [' fje ' al: o ʃi'lja: r] ) is a municipality with 3451 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in South Tyrol (Italy ) under the Sciliar Massif. The main town is Untervöls.

The municipality extends over the Vols Schlerngebiet from Eisacktal to Schlern and also takes a large part of the right side of the Tiers valley with scattered settlements Voelser Aicha one. The actual village center is Untervöls. There you will find the village square, parish church, primary school and a community club house.

Finds from the Bronze Age show that the Voelser municipal area has been inhabited since the 4th millennium BC. The church is first mentioned in a document of King as Fellis Arnolfs from the year 888

Most important economic sector is tourism. Fie was a popular destination of Bolzano citizens, especially for summer and for hay cures already in the late 19th century.

Vols

In the 16th century, let Leonhard of Fie - Colonna, the captain of Tyrol, create an artificial pond - the Vols. Previously created as a fish pond, today fishing is prohibited on the Vols. In summer, the approximately 350 -meter-long lake is often used for swimming. However, this is only on the northern half possible, the south side is a reed with stock biotope.

East of Voelser pond is similar to Huber large pond which is not, but probably suitable for swimming fishing.
