Thumby

Thumby (Danish: Tumby ) is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein. Börentwedt, Sensby and Sieseby and the goods Bienebek, Guckelsby, Marienhof and Stalin are in the municipal area.

Geography and transport

Thumby is located about eight kilometers south of Kappeln and twelve kilometers north of Eckenförde on the Schlei in Schwansen. East of the highway runs 203 ( Schwansenstraße ) of Kappeln to Eckernförde.

In Sieseby an investor is for the Schlei shipping.

History

The village Sieseby ( Low German: Siesby, Danish: Siseby ), which belonged to the estate Bienebek was first mentioned in 1267 as Siceby. The village Thumby until 1928 part of the Gutsbezirks Maas life ( now the town village wood ), was first mentioned in 1352.

The Romanesque stone church in Sieseby, which was built in the 12th century, is the oldest building in the community.

In 2000 Sieseby was reported as the first memorial area in Schleswig -Holstein.

Even today, a large part of its territory is owned by the Prince of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Glücksburg.

Policy

Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the CDU has been the municipal election 2008, five seats, the SPD has a three and voters Community TWG.

Good Bienebek

Situated in the loop ensemble of mansion and associated outbuildings is a listed building. It is now the seat of the Duchess of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Glücksburg.

Good Green Wood

The Good Green Wood ( first mentioned in 1438 ) is the seat of Prince Christoph of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Glücksburg. The mansion was built in 1749. The destroyed in a major fire in 1888 outbuildings were subsequently rebuilt.
