1976 World Ice Hockey Championships

The Games of the 43 World Ice Hockey Championships and 54th at the Olympic Ice Hockey Championship 1976 found in Poland ( for the first time since 1931 ) and Switzerland. Right at the beginning there were doing a sensational 4:6 defeat against the hosts Poland, still followed by two more defeats in the further course of the tournament. 3 defeats in a World Cup, it had never been for the USSR. The Poles took advantage of the sensational victory against the Soviets ultimately nothing; in a highly dramatic relegation battle they had to play against the team of the Federal Republic of Germany the way to the B group after a defeat in the last minute. Became world champion for the fourth time Czechoslovakia, at the same time won their 13th European title.
