2004–05 Scottish Cup

The Scottish FA Cup in 2004 /05 played the 120th time. The most important Scottish football cup competition, which was officially discharged as Tennent's Scottish Cup and chaired by the Scottish Football Association, began on 20 November 2004 and ended with the final on 28 May 2005 at Glasgow's Hampden Park. Defending champion Celtic Glasgow, who was able to put in last year's final against Dunfermline Athletic, repeated the success in this year's competition with a 1-0 final victory over Dundee United and was thus able to win the title a total of 33 of the club 's history. Due to the Celtic Cup victory was able to expand the Scottish record for the Cup Winners' Cup against Rangers. For Celtic it should be the only title in the season as the Rangers won the league and league cup double. For Dundee United on the other hand, it was the seventh defeat in the eighth finals. The hitherto only victory there was in 1993/94 by a playoff win against the Rangers. In the 2009/10 season United could again reach the cup final and celebrating with a victory over Ross County the second title. Since Celtic as runner-up in the Champions League took part played United in the UEFA Cup the following season 2005/ 06 in this competition, left there, however, early in the second qualifying round against Finnish club Pallo -47 Myllykosken on the away goals rule.
