2012 HP Open
The HP Japan Women's Open Tennis 2012 was a hard court tennis tournament for women in Osaka. It was a tournament of the International Category of the WTA Tour in 2012. It coincided with the Generali Ladies Linz 2012 from 8 to 14 October 2012.
Defender of the single was Marion Bartoli, who did not compete for the title defense. In the doubles pairing Kimiko Date Krumm and Shuai Zhang was defending champion. Date Krumm moved with her partner Heather Watson in this year to double finals. There, however, they lost to the top seed pairing Raquel Kops- Jones / Abigail Spears in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. In the singles final, the two unseeded players Heather Watson were (ATP # 71 ) and Kai- chen Chang ( ATP # 134 ) against. For both it would have been the first individual title in a tournament of the WTA Tour. Winner in each individual was Watson who. In a thrilling three- set match that lasted over three hours, her opponent by Chang defense of füfnf match balls with 7:5, 5:7, 7:64 defeated
