Assar Rönnlund

Bernt Rönnlund Assar ( born September 3, 1935 in Sävar, Umeå municipality; † 5 January 2011) was a Swedish cross-country skier.

Life

At the Olympic Games in 1964 he won the silver medal over 50 km, was with the Swedish squadron Olympic champion. With the 4x10 km relay he again won silver at the 1968 Olympic Winter Games.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships 1962 Rönnlund world champion over 15 km and with the season, about 50 km, he won silver. He was awarded the Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal - For this performance. In 1967 he won the Vasaloppet.

After his career as an athlete Rönnlund worked as a sports commentator for Sveriges Radio.

Rönnlund was married to the Swedish cross-country skier and Olympic champion Toini Gustafsson. He died on 5 January 2011 after a long illness.
