Berlare (not to be confused with Berlaar ) is a Belgian municipality in the Flemish Region on the north bank of the Scheldt. It is located in the province of East Flanders and belongs to Arrondissement of Dendermonde. Berlare has 14,690 inhabitants ( 1 January 2012) and an area of ​​37.82 km ². In Berlare is mainly a farming and residential village.

Geography and transport

Dendermonde is located 7 kilometers east, Aalst, 8 km south, 20 km west of Ghent, Brussels and Antwerp 32 km southeast 34 km north-east.

The next highway exits are located in Lokeren in the north on the A14 / E 17 and at Aalst in the south on the A10 / E 40

The community has a regional railway station on the line Gent- Wetteren - Berlare - Dendermonde, Mechelen.

Church ( Onze Lieve Vrouw de Hemelvaartkerk ) in Overmere

Overmere
