Biedesheim

Biedesheim is a municipality in the Thunder Mountain district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Göllheim.

Geography

The community is located at the headwaters of Brübelbaches, north of the Palatinate Forest, between Kaiserslautern and Worms. To Biedesheim includes the living space as well as the settlement Neumühlestrasse nice views.

History

Biedesheim is a Franconian establishment and was first mentioned in 782 as Bosinesheim in the Lorsch Codex documented. A later place name is also " Büdesheim " and in 1766 the place " Beet Büdesheim " was (also called " Rübenbüdesheim " ) called for the distinction of " heritage -Büdesheim ". " Rübenbüdesheim " was in use until the 19th century.

In the 15th century, was located in the western part of Biedesheim a moated castle, the castle Biedesheim.

The local council in Biedesheim consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Culture and sights

The evangelical church is a Romanesque building from the 10th century, which was renewed in 1498. Inside are sumptuous, 1964 exposed wall paintings, which are the 13th and 15th centuries assigned. To the east and south of the church is the old cemetery with some beautiful classical tombs, including one for a Biedesheimer veterans of the Napoleonic Wars.

The church fete takes place every year on the third weekend in September.
