Gehrweiler

Gehrweiler is a municipality in the Thunder Mountain district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Rockhausen.

Geographical location

The place is located in the north- Palatinate mountains, west of Thunder Mountain between Kaiserslautern and Bad Kreuznach, in a tributary of the river Alsenz. He has a high proportion of forest and extensive agricultural land (arable and pasture ).

To Gehrweiler and the living space belongs Gehrweilermühle.

History

The village was owned by the Electoral Palatinate and fell in 1444 to the Duchy of Pfalz- Zweibrücken.

According to an undated document which one sets to 1469 express Count Palatine Ludwig I of Pfalz- Zweibrücken, Abbot Peter of Münsterdreisen and Father John, pastor of Rockhausen and Conventual of Münsterdreisen that have so far found no chapel in the village Gehrweiler because it belongs to the parish Rockhausen. In neighboring Imsweiler is a train station of Alsenztalbahn.
