Kalkofen

Lime kiln is a municipality in the Thunder Mountain district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Alsenz - Obermoschel, which has its headquarters in the town of Alsenz.

Geographical location

The municipality is located in north Ohlbachtal of the Palatinate Forest, between Kaiserslautern and Bad Kreuznach. Alsenz is southwest, to the north east is Winterborn.

History

The church was first mentioned in documents in 1365.

Parish council

The local council in the lime kiln is composed of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Economy and infrastructure

In 1960 there were in the lime kiln for about 40 agricultural full-time farms, where 60 % of residents were employed. Meanwhile, lime kiln has developed into an almost exclusive residential community.

Through the village runs the L 403 Take the A 63 in the east and the A61 in north-east is connected to the long-distance transport.
