Oberwiesen

Oberwiesen is a municipality in the Thunder Mountain district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kirchheimbolanden.

The local council in Oberwiesen consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " Argent, on a green ground, a green spruce, beseitet up of two six-pointed golden stars and topped with a bouncing red deer with golden antlers and golden hooves ."

It was granted in 1844 by King Ludwig I of Bavaria and goes back to a seal from 1779.

Culture and sights

In the town center there are the Catholic and the Protestant church. Based in Oberwiesen hunting school with teaching district of Rhineland- Palatinate was the first of its kind in Germany.

On the first Saturday in July the fishing festival is held on the last weekend in August, the church fete.

Economy and infrastructure

In the resort, the L 399 and L 406 intersect Southeast runs the A 63 ( Kaiserslautern Mainz). In Kirchheimbolanden is a railway station of thunder mountain railway.
