Clan Gregor

MacGregor ( " son of Gregory " ) is the name of a Scottish clan, who supposedly descended from the first king of Scotland Kenneth MacAlpin.

History

The clan was known when he first for a power struggle his lands lost to the Campbells and 1603 after a cattle raid in Colquhoun and a subsequent battle in which 200 Colquhoun and only two MacGregors fell by King James VI. was dissolved partly by force. As the wearing of the name was in 1775 again officially allowed, even signed up 826 members of the clan.

The motto of the clan is' S rioghal mo dhream ( "Royal is my race" ).
