Cosio di Arroscia

Cosio di Arroscia ( in Ligurian: Cüxe ) is a municipality with 242 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the northern Italian region of Liguria. Politically it belongs to the province of Imperia.

Geography

Cosio di Arroscia is located in the upper part of the Valle Arroscia, at a distance of less than 20 kilometers from the French border. The municipality is part of the Alta Valle Arroscia and is approximately 36 kilometers from the provincial capital of Imperia, with which it is connected by the SS 28. History

On 28 July 1957, the left-wing cultural movement of the Situationist International was founded in a back room of a bar in Cosio di Arroscia by a group of artists and writers. Founding members include Guy Debord, Giuseppe Pinot - Gallizio, Asger Jorn and the indigenous Piero Simondo.
