Front view Efini MS-8

The efini MS-8 was a 1992-1995 Mazda built and offered only in Japan car of the upper middle class. He was the only model of Mazda 's own brand efini, which was not sold outside Japan under the brand name Mazda. A direct successor of efini MS- 8 is not obtained because the Mazda brand strategy was abandoned with its own brands efini, Eunos and Autozam.

History

The efini MS- 8 is based on the Mazda Cronos 626/Mazda the GE series, but has a completely unique design inside and out. It is designed as a hardtop sedan with frameless doors, a type of vehicle for a more sporty clientele that in Japan at that time, for example, was operated by Toyota with the Toyota Carina ED or Mitsubishi with the Mitsubishi Diamante.

Special stylistic features are, firstly, the very narrow above the doors held, virtually invisible from the outside B-pillars, which required an attachment of the retractor of front seat belts in the rear doors. Secondly, the efini MS-8 had a consistent car floor at the front, among other things, was achieved by a shift of the automatic shift lever to the steering column. Motors

The efini MS-8 had front wheel drive and an electronically controlled automatic transmission with four gears. On the motor side stood two short-stroke V6 engines to choose from, a 2.0- liter engine ( Mazda internal designation KF -ZE ) with about 160 hp and a 2.5- liter engine with 200 hp ( KL -ZE ).
