Fletcher B. Swank

Fletcher B. Swank (* April 24, 1875 in Bloomfield, Davis County, Iowa, † March 16, 1950 in Norman, Oklahoma ) was an American politician. Between 1921 and 1929, and from 1931 to 1935, he was the fifth electoral district of the state of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1888, Fletcher Swank moved with his parents to Beef Creek in Indian Territory. He attended a school in Noble, and then studied at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. Between 1903 and 1907 he was in Cleveland County School Board and from 1907 to 1908 he was private secretary to Congressman Scott Ferris. He used the time in Washington for a law degree at Georgetown University. Then he was still studying at Cumberland University in Lebanon (Tennessee). After his made ​​in 1909 admitted to the bar in Norman Swank began to work in his new profession. In the years 1911-1915 he was a district judge in Cleveland County. After that, he was until 1920 judges in the 14th judicial district of Oklahoma.

Swank was a member of the Democratic Party. In 1920 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he replaced John W. Harreld on March 4, 1921 the moved to the U.S. Senate.
