Lyle Boren

Lyle Hagler Boren (May 11, 1909 in Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas, † July 2, 1992 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma ) was an American politician. Between 1937 and 1947 he represented the fourth electoral district of the state of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Lyle Boren moved in 1917 to Lawton, Oklahoma, where he attended the public schools. Until 1930 he studied at East Central College in Ada. He also graduated from the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College in Stillwater. Between 1930 and 1935 he worked as a teacher at various schools in the city wolf. After that, he was employed by the Procurement Office of the U.S. Treasury. Later he worked in Oklahoma in agriculture and trade. Boren was also a member of the reserve of the U.S. Navy.

Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In 1936 he was selected in the fourth district of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington. There he broke on January 3, 1937 from his party colleagues Percy Lee Gassaway. Since Lyle Boren were each re-elected at the four congressional elections, he was able to complete five 1947 legislative sessions in Congress until January 3. For the elections of 1946, he was not nominated by his party.

After the end of his time in Congress Lyle Boren committed himself again to his private business. He worked only agriculture but also in the oil industry and he became the head of an oil company. Between 1954 and 1970 he represented the Association of Western Railway Companies ( Western Association of Railroads ). He then worked for the Office of the Insurance Commissioner of the State of Oklahoma. Boren died in July 1992 in Oklahoma City.

Lyle Boren was a member of a famous political family from Oklahoma. His son David was born in 1941 Governor of Oklahoma and U.S. Senator; his grandson Dan currently represents the second congressional district in the House of Representatives.
