Elmer L. Fulton

Elmer Lincoln Fulton ( born April 22, 1865 in Magnolia, Harrison County, Iowa; † October 4, 1939 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma ) was an American politician. Between 1907 and 1909 he represented the second electoral district of the state of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1870, Elmer Fulton moved with his parents to Nebraska, where the family settled in Pawnee City. Fulton attended the public schools of his new home and then the Tabor College. After studying law and his 1895 was admitted to the bar he began in Pawnee City to work in his new profession.

In 1901, Elmer Fulton moved to Stillwater in Oklahoma Territory, where he also practiced as a lawyer. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. After the accession of Oklahoma to the Union, he was elected in the second constituency of the new state in the U.S. House of Representatives. Here he exercised his mandate between 16 November 1907 to 3 March 1909. In 1908, he defeated Republican Dick Thompson Morgan.

After the end of his time in Congress, Fulton worked as a lawyer in Oklahoma City. Between 1919 and 1922 he was Deputy Attorney General of Oklahoma. He then worked again as a lawyer. Elmer Fulton died in October 1939 in Oklahoma City, but was buried in St. Louis. He was the younger brother of Charles William Fulton, who was sitting 1903-1906 for the state of Oregon in the U.S. Senate.
