Großeutersdorf

Großeutersdorf is a municipality in the southern part of the Thuringian Saale- wood - country circuit and part of the joint management Southern Saale valley.

Location

The district of the village Grosseutersdorf village is located in the fertile river Saale and on the slopes of the hills. The hills on the right and left of the hall are mostly forested. Through the village the busy state road 88 leads to a junction with the highway 4 at Jena. By the Saale valley the railway line between Berlin and Munich runs.

History

The first mention of Großeutersdorf was registered between the year 1083 and 16 February 1084.

A long occupied younger Bronze Age cremation cemetery from Grosseutersdorf villages Kirchberg is located at the foot of Walpersberges .. Starting from a chieftain grave were buried for about 250 years 8-10 generations here. The mountain name points to a Christian sanctuary follow a pre-Christian cult place.

Großeutersdorf 1684-1687 was affected by witch hunts. A man and a woman came in witch trials. The output is unknown, since the files were destroyed.

The Walpersberg has been eroded by the Kahla porcelain industry for the extraction of raw materials.

This cave system was used towards the end of World War 2 by the aircraft industry with the help of foreign workers and prisoners armor purposes.
