Grundviller

Grundviller ( German Basic hamlet ) is a commune with 672 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Sarreguemines Sarreguemines and Canton -Campagne.

Geography

The community Grundviller located ten kilometers south-west of Sarreguemines at an altitude 222-272 m above sea level. The municipality covers 6.27 km ².

History

The village was first mentioned in 1423 as Gruntwiller. In the Thirty Years' War it was completely destroyed, in 1766 it came to France.

The previous French official name basis Willer was Frenchified 1945 to its present form.
