Rouhling

Rouhling ( German Ruhlingen ) is a commune with 2037 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Sarreguemines Sarreguemines and Canton -Campagne.

Geography

Rouhling is above the Saar valley near the border with Germany at Grosbliederstroff at an altitude 241-350 m above sea level, the average height is 344 m. The municipality covers 6.02 km ².

History

Rouhling is named after a Frankish landowners named Ruldo and was first mentioned in 1249 as Raldinga. Between 1670 and 1697 it was already once occupied by the French. Since the September 22, 1798, the village belonged to France. From 1871 to 1945 Rouhling shared the fate of Alsatian -Lorraine communities and temporarily belonged to the German Empire, was 1919-1940 French again and annexed in the Second World War from 1940 to 1944 from Germany. With the conquest of the surrounding region by American troops heard it since December 1944 back to the French Republic.
